| Neil was born on July 30th, 1963. | | On 16th February 1980, Neil made his footballing debut playing for Reading, aged just 16 years old. | | In 1982, Neil signed for Portsmouth and then two seasons later joined Nottingham Forest. | | In 1989, Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson bought Neil from Nottingham Forest for 1.5 millions pounds. He was paid 5,000 pounds a week. | | During his time at Manchester United a young David Beckham cleaned his boots. | | In 1992 he rejoined Nottingham Forest for 800,000 pounds. | | Neil played for England at youth level, under 21 level and won 26 full England caps. |

| In 1994, Neil left Nottingham Forest after a spell at Grimsby and ended up playing for non-league club, Aldershot. | | In 1996, he was forced to give up playing due to a string of injuries. | | Split up with his wife Shelley Webb in 1997 after he had a fling with a singer. Shelley was a TV presenter and writer and has written a book called "Footballer's Wives". | | In 1997, he became manager of Weymouth, but quit after just 70 days. He then became manager of Reading Town, but again left after only a brief spell in charge. | | Neil has two sons, Luke and Josh who are playing football at youth level with Arsenal and Reading. | | Neil now works as a postman in Reading, working 10 hour shifts and getting paid 220 pounds a week. |
